The Environment Agency has produced more than 50 new and revised sets of standard rules for regulating waste activities in England.

The documents cover the wide variety of activities including anaerobic digestion, composting, waste transfer stations, metal recycling, vehicle dismantling, waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) treatment, and incinerator bottom ash treatment.

General amendments include amending older standard rules to update references to directives and legislation that has been superseded and to use consistent definitions and terminology.

Other standard rules have been amended to take into account amendments to the Industrial Emissions Directive and the new requirements for sites who store combustible waste to have a fire prevention plan.
