CSR at WSR Recycling

CSR at WSR Recycling

At WSR Recycling we believe it is important to operate with our stakeholders best interests at heart.

It is paramount that we give back to the community that has been so important in our growth as a company.

We encourage and support our employees in their work with local charities and charity fundraising and actively support a number of local community initiatives.

This is put into practice by our employees and owners in many different ways, and featured here are just a few of our most recent activities.

Steve Prescott Foundation

Steve Prescott

On the 5th March 2017 the WSR Recycling Ltd Environmental & Quality Manager Rob Tinsley completed the ‘Steve Prescott Foundation’ St Helens 10k road race (his first over that distance) in 55:28 mins.  In 2016, Rob decided it was time to sort his health and fitness out as he was tired of being picked last for football and being pressurised by mobility scooter salesman.

Working with a personal trainer over the last 9 months culminated in Rob being invited to join Team Hunt Personal Training for this event.  Team Hunt was the only group running directly on behalf of the Steve Prescott foundation and was raising funds for charities that the foundation represents which includes Christies in Manchester and TryAssisst.  WSR Recycling Ltd was proud to sponsor both Rob Tinsley and all the members of Team Hunt Personal Training by becoming one of the teams shirt sponsors and to support the Steve Prescott Foundation.

WSR Promotes Health & Wellbeing

WSR has recently arranged for the NHS to come on to site to carry out Health Checks with staff in a bid to promote Health & Wellbeing.  Staff were provided with a health check and any guidance and advice regarding their overall health and fitness/wellbeing.  Thanks to all involved.

Raising Funds to Fight Cancer

Raising Funds to Fight Cancer

In 2016:-

Our HR Manager Michelle Lloyd walked up Snowdon using the Llanberis Pass to help raise money for Cancer Research.

Marie Carsley from our Accounts Department walked the Coast-2-Coast to help raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

Liz Hill (also a member of our Accounts Department) took part in ‘Pretty Muddy’ for the Teenage Cancer Trust and Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

You can read all about these great charities and make a donation to any of them on the following links:-

JustGiving sends your donation straight to Cancer Research and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.

Thank you for your support!

WSR Hosts College Visit

WSR Hosts College Visit

In 2016, a group of A Level Geography students from Saints Peter & Paul College came to visit WSR. The objective of the visit was to help to give the students an insight into what happens on site, Robert Tinsley WSR’s Environmental & Quality Manager provided the students with a comprehensive presentation in WSR’s onsite Training Facility, followed by a tour of the site. The students were interested in waste management, the waste hierarchy, and sustainability and innovation as part of their studies. The visit helped provide the students with the practical/operational knowledge to compliment their theoretical/conceptual knowledge of the subject matter.

Thanks to Robert Tinsley, and staff at WSR. WSR were pleased to be able to assist the college as it is keen on working with its local schools and colleges in the local community. WSR would like to wish the students good luck with their studies and future career development.
